THE WEEKLY READING OF THE TORAH PORTION
The word “Torah” means “instructions.”  The Torah is often called “Toras Chaim” – instructions for life.  It is incumbent upon every Jew to read the weekly Torah portion to keep connected to his heritage and to the Almighty – and to delve deeper each year into his understanding of life.

Each week the Jewish people read a parasha, a section of the Torah.

The Torah  portion is divided into 7 sections.  On Monday and Thursday, the first section is divided into 3 parts and for each section

a man is called to the Torah to make a blessing before and after the reading.  On Shabbat, all 7 sections are read.

One of the most successful and enjoyable weekly emails is the Shabbat Shalom Weekly written by Rabbi Kalman Packouz. Not only does it give an overview and insights into the weekly Torah portion, it gives timely insights into life and personal growth.
